2017 Volkswagen Jetta vs 2016 Volkswagen Jetta
The year 2016 is almost entirely in the rearview mirror at this point, and what a year it has been! It is time to look ahead to what the next year has in store, and that includes what to expect on the latest iterations of Volkswagen models. A number of these 2017 models have already been released ahead of the new year, and one of those is the Jetta. What’s different on the latest version of this popular car? Let’s take a look at the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta vs the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta.
Changes made on the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta
By and large, the new Jetta is a refreshed update rather than a complete overhaul for 2017. To paraphrase the old saying, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it! The Jetta lineup has been simplified to four trims: S, SE, SEL, and GLI. The biggest change to the Jetta name for 2017 is the deletion of the Jetta hybrid. Another big change to the Jetta is the addition of a standard rearview camera in the base S trim, an example of the German automaker’s commitment to helping keep drivers safe.
Fuel efficiency also receives a bit of a boost for 2017, as the new Jetta gets an estimated 28 city and 40 highway miles per gallon, a touch above last year’s Jetta. Power remains an important characteristic of the Jetta as well. Its base 1.4-liter engine gets 150 horsepower, its 1.8-liter engine can produce 170 horsepower, and the top-tier 2.0-liter engine can generate as much as 210 horsepower.
