The Christmas season is quickly swelling all around us into the grand climactic crescendo that explodes annually to end the year. If you’re looking to get in on the holiday fun, you’re not alone. What events are being implemented to celebrate Christmas 2019 in Elgin, IL?
Callipygian Players Holiday Concert in Elgin
- When? Monday, Dec. 16 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm
- Where? 216 Prairie Street, Elgin
If you’d like a taste of the baroque to imbue your Christmas cheer, check out the Callipygian Players Holiday Concert. This hard-to-pronounce group is actually Chicago’s premiere baroque chamber music ensemble. They’ll be utilizing period instruments to sing Christmas carols and perform baroque instrumental music.
Those who attend will hear both Christmas classics and likely some tunes they’ve never conceived of before. Complimentary beer and wine will be provided, which should help the unfamiliar elements to go down a little more smoothly.

2019 TSN Christmas Classic
- When? Saturday, Dec. 21 to Sunday, Dec. 22, 5 am to 5 am
- Where? The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way, Elgin
What do the above letters stand for? 2019 Team Sports Network Christmas Classic. What exactly is that? A basketball tournament for teams of elite/competitive-level boys aged from 4th through 8th grade. An entry fee of $250 to $275 is required to, um, enter. Teams that enter do get a 4-game guarantee.
This tournament is the biggest winter tournament of its kind and is expected to sell out. So if you’re into this kind of thing, hurry on over!
Elgin Hauntings Holiday Bus
- When? Saturday, Dec. 21 from 7 to 10 pm
- Where? Elgin Public House, 219 E. Chicago Street, Elgin
Combine the festive and frightful into one spookily cozy concoction with this trip deep into the haunted history of our city. Participants will enjoy the comfort of a cozy coach bus as they hear strange tales of the Elgin Casket Company, Bluff City Cemetery and Channing School. It’s recommended that attendees bring their own booze to steady their nerves.
