When Volkswagen released the second-generation Tiguan, they made it one of the largest models in its class. This version sees a slight increase in its wheelbase, translating into more interior room. This engine works with an 8-speed automatic transmission to send power to the front or to all four wheels. It should be noted that VW reduced the Tiguan’s weight by 170 pounds through expanded use of lightweight materials. EPA fuel economy numbers are pending, but we expect a slight increase in fuel economy.
On the tech front, Volkswagen continues to push the boundaries, offering a standard 10.25-inch digital cockpit. The display is crisp, customizable, and user friendly. Next to it is the central infotainment system highlighted by a 12.9-inch touchscreen display. The interface controls audio, navigation, and cabin comfort. VW, though didn’t stop there – a 15-inch display commands the top trim.
As for the audio system, you’ll find either six or eight speakers on most trims, with a Harmon Kardon 14-speaker audio package offered on the top trim. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a wireless charging pad are other features of note.
